Workforce Development

Jane Addams Hull House Association has been providing workforce development services since 1996.  We serve low-to-moderate income individuals who have limited access to capital and financing, and a lack of educational, technical and networking services.

We are leaders in the communities we serve.  With this significant community presence, Hull House has many collaborative relationships with other organizations to provide our clients access to educational opportunities, employment training and other supportive services. In addition, we have developed relationships with numerous businesses in diverse sectors to access employment opportunities.

Workforce Development program goals include:

  • Support business entrepreneurs and current business owners to advance their goals for economic self-sufficiency
  • Increase employment opportunities and career options for low-income unemployed and under-employed Chicagoans
  • Provide participants with pre-vocational training, job readiness skills, and employment training opportunities
  • Provide participants with on-the-job experience by placing them in jobs with other organizations
  • Provide follow-up support to help participants retain employment and achieve self-sufficiency

Our targeted populations include:

  • Female headed households receiving services from the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program
  • Families living in Chicago Public Housing (CHA)
  • Immigrant populations with limited English proficiency
  • Homeless young adults
  • Business entrepreneurs
  • Current business owners
