Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides volunteer opportunities for persons ages 55 and older who wish to contribute their experience and talents within their community.
Our 825+ volunteers provide 190,000 hours of volunteer services each year at more than 115 Chicago non profit sites. RSVP also serves as a clearinghouse for volunteers and volunteer sites, providing Chicago nonprofit agencies with quality senior volunteer services.
Our Volunteers serve in many roles: Tutors and mentors; Greeters; Clerical assistants & Receptionists; Nutrition aides; Patient care workers; Pharmacist aides; Museum guides; Telephone operators.
Benefits for RSVP volunteers include: No cost additional liability insurance coverage; Receipt of RSVP newsletters; Transportation reimbursements 2 days/week when volunteer sites cannot provide reimbursements; Free or low cost field trips, focus groups and special events; Annual RSVP Volunteer Recognition Luncheons for volunteers who provide at least 40 hours of volunteer services for the year. Past luncheon speakers include Alderman Toni Preckwinkle, Rep. Barbara Flynn Curie, Corporation for National and Community Service Illinois State Director John Hosteny, and Father George Clements.
RSVP is a member of a nationwide volunteer network funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service, the Illinois Department on Aging, and local contributors.
