Infant & Toddler Programs
Infant & Toddler Centers
Jane Addams Hull House Association opened the first Infant & Toddler Center in a Chicago Public high school in 1991. Over the years, we have assisted more than 400 teen parents with childcare and have enabled them to stay in school. Our Centers serve two at-risk populations: teen parents and their infants.
Teens experience tremendous success because of our programs that enable them to stay in school, and learn how to be effective parents. The majority of our parents do not have any subsequent pregnancies while in our programs, and go on to graduate, and enroll in 2-year vocational schools or 4-year colleges. Teen parents are required to attend parenting classes each semester and spend one study hall period daily in the Center with their child. Case management, job counseling, tutoring and college planning services are also provided to teens.
While the teens are in class, our experienced early childhood professionals offer quality developmental and educational experiences to children ages 6-weeks-to-3-years-old. Our centers provide a cognitively stimulating environment located in the high school.
Infant & Toddler Homes
In addition to our high school centers, we provide care for infants and toddlers through our Early Head Start network of licensed child care home providers. Children ages 6-weeks-to-3-years-old receive a comprehensive early childhood experience in a licensed home setting.
