December 10 Symposium
More than 100 guests attended the Jane Addams Symposium held on Friday, December 10 - which was Jane Addams Day! Louise W. Knight, Jane Addams' author and Keynote Speaker, spoke on Remembering Jane Addams. Miss Knight also signed her new book “Jane Addams: Spirit in Action" at the end of the question and answer session.
Hull House also presented the Jane Addams Women of Valor Award to Patricia Abrams, Ronne R. Hartfield, Sheila Lyne, RSM, and Audrey R. Peeples.

September 16 Symposium
Hull House held the Jane Addams Symposium on Thursday, September 16 at the Palmer House Hilton. Keynote Speaker, Julie L. Biehl, Director of the Children & Family Justice Center of the Northwestern University School of Law, led the morning's discussion on the “over-incarceration” of youth in Illinois and its impact on their lives and the community at large, reflecting on the founding principles of the juvenile justice system espoused by Miss Addams.
Hull House also presented Sylvia Puente, Vanessa Rich, and Bernarda Wong with the Jane Addams Women of Valor Award. The morning's moderator was Nancy Snyder, a Hull House Board Trustee.
june 15 Symposium
Keynote Speaker Dr. Creasie Hairston, Dean of the Jane Addams College of Social Work at UIC, led the morning's discussion on Jane Addams at The Palmer House Hilton on Tuesday, June 15, 2010. She spoke about Jane Addams as the mother of modern social work and the efforts she made to change the ways people worked with marginalized communities and individuals.
Hull House also presented Margaret Berglind, Judge Sophia Hall and Aurie Pennick with the Jane Addams Women of Valor Award.
The morning's moderator was Arlene Juracek, a Hull House Board Trustee.

march 25 Symposium
More than 170 guests were in attendance at the second Jane Addams Symposium at the Palmer House Hilton Hotel. Keynote Speaker Louise W. Knight, author of Citizen: Jane Addams and the Struggle for Democracy, led the morning's discussion on Jane Addams’ belief in the power of the community to be a force for social change, how she did her organizing, and what lessons we can draw from Jane Addams' pioneering insights. November 20 Symposium
More than 140 guests attended the inaugural Jane Addams Symposia held on Friday, November 20 at The Palmer House Hilton. Janice Metzger, author of “What Would Jane Say? City-Building Women and a Tale of Two Chicagos,” led a candid discussion on how Chicago might be a different city today if Jane Addams and other leading women had been a part of the Burnham planning process.
Hull House presented the Jane Addams Women of Valor Award to two of Chicagoland's leading women. Representative Barbara Flynn Currie received an award for her Organizational Leadership and Ruth Todd for her Community Leadership. Hull House also presented a Youth Leadership Award to Nicole Basil.
The morning's moderator was Arlene Juracek, a Hull House Board Trustee.
