Coat Giveaway & The Tyra Show

The Tyra Show visited John Hay Community Academy, a community school of Jane Addams Hull House Association on October 15, 2009. We held a surprise assembly where more than 200 students received a free brand-new winter coat donated by Aeropostale and were filmed to be on The Tyra Show!

America’s Next Top Model contestants Whitney, Marvita and Yoanna were on site to distribute coats to the students. Many students had the opportunity to speak with the models one-on-one and were individually interviewed for the show.

The Tyra Show has partnered with Aeropostale for “The 100,000 Coat Giveaway Show” and is distributing coats to teens in Chicago, New York City and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Jane Addams Hull House Association was contacted by The Tyra Show because of our role as a large social service agency in Chicago, and our relationship with One Warm Coat. Hull House holds more than 20 coat drives every winter and distributes over 8,000 coats to those in need.

The episode is scheduled to air on November 9th. In Chicago, the show will run on WGN-TV, Channel 9. The show runs from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. Be sure to tune in! If you can’t watch it live, check out our Facebook page!
